Disability Discrimination

Disability discrimination occurs when an employer treats an employee or applicant with a disability unfavorably because they have a disability. Disability discrimination can also occur when an employer treats an employee or applicant unfavorably because it is believed that they have a physical or mental impairment.

The law requires an employer to provide a reasonable accommodation to an employee or job applicant with a disability. A reasonable accommodation is to help a person with a disability perform the duties of a job, or enjoy the benefits and privileges of employment.
